So, when I spotted the camera of my dreams on Ebay, I placed my bid, upped my bid, chewed my nails, and low and behold I actually won the little buggar.
When the UPS guy dropped it off on my front porch a few days later, I frantically tore open the box, and there it was. The camera was really mine. It was better than Christmas.
But as I picked it up, I realized the unthinkable. The camera was way smarter than me, I had no clue how to use my new prize. Yea, I was shocked. I thought I was pretty darn smart, even though I'm still waiting for my MENZA membership to show up in my mailbox.
A couple of days ago I met up with local photographer/musician Ed Krebs for a Nikon for Dummies lesson. Lucky for me, Ed is amazing with a camera, and he just so happens to have one similar to mine. While I fumbled around, Ed patiently explained most of the gadgets and dials.
Well, he must be an incredible teacher, because his class worked. Check out some trial pics with my new camera. (**gush** I LOVE my new camera)

I could have never gotten these shots with my other camera! I know I've got a lot of work ahead of me, these are not touched up or cropped at all, but heck, it's not a bad day at the office.
Even though I am a very dark green, with envy, I still love you.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are amazing!
Are you selling your old camera?

My husband is drooling....landlocked and wanting to be in your photos. They are beautiful! Tell me more about your camera. I want one too! And can you send Ed my way to teach me how to use it? Wow!
ReplyDeleteGET OUT!!
ReplyDeleteI want one too! If all you cool American lady-bloggers get this great camera, then I want to come on board.
What sort is it?
@chb - i'm not sure what i'll do with my old camera yet. i only have a huge lens for my new camera, so i'll probably need it until i can save up for a smaller lens.
ReplyDeletemcm- pack up your gypsy house on wheels, and come see me! i'll take pics of your husband, no guarantee on wave conditions, though.
mmmc- it's a nikon d70s with a killer 300 lens. i'm so happy! but i still have to figure out how to use it. 1 lesson is not nearly enough!
Great shots~! How was LA? It sounds like the media hyped it so much, and the traffic wasn't so bad!
ReplyDeleteciao from Newport Beach
Fabiana, LA was great! We took the train up, and used the light rail to get around. There wasn't anybody downtown!
ReplyDeletethe photos are amazing!! the rich color and action are fabulous!! can't wait to see more of your work!! (it's not all the camera!! you have a great eye!)
ReplyDeleteSweet! Don't expect you'll have much trouble navigating the D70s. It's pretty intuitive, you can delete the bad ones and learn as you go. There is not much that's more fun than a new camera. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are wonderful! Lucky you.
